About Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for ~85% of cases and includes adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma. NSCLC treatment is driven by driver mutations (EGFR, ALK, ROS1, KRAS, BRAF) and PD-L1 expression. Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is treated primarily with chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

What Types of Lung Cancer Clinical Trials Exist?

Lung cancer trials test next-generation targeted agents (EGFR, ALK, KRAS inhibitors), checkpoint inhibitor combinations, antibody-drug conjugates, and novel immunotherapy strategies. Biomarker testing (mutation status, PD-L1) is often required for trial eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

What clinical trials are available for lung cancer?
Recruiting lung cancer trials include EGFR-targeted therapies for EGFR-mutant NSCLC, ALK inhibitors, KRAS G12C inhibitors, PD-(L)1 immunotherapy combinations, and SCLC-specific studies.
Does my lung cancer mutation status affect trial eligibility?
Yes, critically. Many NSCLC trials require specific driver mutations (EGFR, ALK, KRAS G12C) confirmed by molecular testing. PD-L1 expression levels also determine eligibility for immunotherapy trials.
